Profitable, growing chemical manufacturer is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to lead multiple projects in a high-volume, process-oriented manufacturing environment. Daily you will report to the VP of Operations, oversee a Project Engineer and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Manage multiple capital equipment projects on an ongoing basis, including timeline and budget management
- Coordinate timeframes, resources, budgets and contractors for projects
- Work with sales on feasibility, cost and timing of projects for customer needs
- Conceptualize CapEx projects and work with vendors and contractors through completion
- Facilitate teams and ensure that the validation process is completed in a timely manner
- Communicate with customers on expectations, projects and status of timelines
- Once approved, execute projects and successfully hand off to operations
- Develop and improve line layouts and make line modifications
- Work with process engineering team on process flow diagrams
- Understand HAZMAT requirements and regulations
- Develop standards for equipment
- Support three facilities related to CapEx projects, all in various stages
- Communicate at all levels to gather data and ensure project completion
- Other duties as directed by management
Candidates should be detail oriented, have excellent problem solving skills, be able to prioritize tasks, be improvement minded and able to communicate at a levels. Individuals should enjoy spending 20-30% or more of their time on the manufacturing floor. This is a high-profile position that reports directly to the VP of Operations. REQUIREMENTS for the Sr. Project Engineer:
1. Bachelor's Degree in a technical field; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering are highly preferred
2. Minimum of three years of similar project engineering experience
3. Experience working in process oriented manufacturing (such as chemical, food, beverage), including a blending/mixing batch process
4. Experience overseeing capital equipment projects, including timelines and budgets
5. Experience working on multiple discipline projects (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.)
6. Blueprint reading experience
7. Knowledge of related codes, NFPA, ASME, etc.
8. Working knowledge of Gantt charts
9. Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. PMP certification
2. Consumer products manufacturing
3. APQP and/or validation experience
4. Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies and/or certification
5. Power BI
